Rudy’s surgery!

Tuesday,3-23-10, was a very LONG day for all of us! Rudy and I arrived at the hospital about 7am to check him into Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, WA. Our three girls, their husbands, our 7 grandkids and my Mom arrived a little later. We all spent the morning in the waiting room or taking turns going into Rudy’s room and visiting and pics with Rudy. Rudy’s Mom and brother arrived and spent the day with us also.

One of Rudy’s buddies came,Micah from Tri-Cities to visit him also.

Finally at 12:36pm, they took him from us and he was on his way to  surgery, he was on the schedule for noon. The wait was awful, but we al manged to keep occupied, some playing with their phones talking and texting, kids playing games and doing home work. The kids did very well yesterday and honored Papa’s wishes to behave while at the hospital.

About 4:28 pm Dr. MacKay and his Assistant stopped by the waiting room and told us, that surgery went well and he was able to get 95% of the tumor out. It was a Glioblastoma Multiforme malignant tumor so Rudy will have many treatments coming up. About 6:30 pm they brought Rudy by the waiting room on the way to ICU, he was awake and talking to us. We went to ICU saw him for a few minutes, then we all went back to hotel to get some rest.

What a day it was! So much stress for the family, many calls to people that could not be here in Spokane with us. The girls helped out with calls and texting people.
