My life!
On Saturday I got stung by a wasp on my wrist. I’ve been dealing with redness, pain, itching, and swelling. The swelling went from my watchband area almost to my elbow.

Not a very good pic.
Today it’s finally looking better.
I have reactions to stings, but luckily never end up in ER with one.
I was minding my own business, just watching stumps be removed from our property and the little bugger got me! What’s the deal?
Something to think about!
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.
“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Windy and Smokey!
We have a number of brush fires in our area tonight. It’s very smokey and the wind has increased the last hour or so. We had a lightning storm last night and numerous fires started in our area. I’m hoping they get them under control soon!
Petunias
18+ years ago we made a circular driveway in our front yard and added a circle in the center with petunias and marigolds in it. Then 16+ years ago, we planted a rose garden in the circle.
A couple years ago we removed the center rose bush and put in a flag pole. We transplanted the center bush into a half wine barrel, but the rose bush didn’t make it through this last winter.
Here’s what came up this year!

It’s hard to believe seeds can stay in the soil all of these years and then start growing!
Don’t mess with little old ladies……..
An older lady gets pulled over for speeding…….
Older Woman: Is there a problem, Officer?
Officer: Ma’am, you were speeding.
Older Woman: Oh, I see.
Officer: Can I see your license, please?
Older Woman: I’d give it to you but I don’t have one.
Officer: Don’t have one?
Older Woman: Lost it, 4 years ago for drunk driving.
Officer: I see….. Can I see your vehicle registration papers please.
Older Woman: I can’t do that.
Officer: Why not?
Older Woman: I stole this car
Officer: Stole it?
Older Woman: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner.
Officer: You what?
Older Woman: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see ….
The Officer looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.
Officer 2: Ma’am, could you step out of your vehicle please! The woman steps out of her vehicle.
Older woman: Is there a problem sir?
Officer 2: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner.
Older Woman: Murdered the owner?
Officer 2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car, please.
The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk.
Officer 2: Is this your car, ma’am?
Older Woman: Yes, here are the registration papers.
The officer is quite stunned.
Officer 2: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving license.
The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out a clutch purse and hands it to the officer.
The officer examines the license. He looks quite puzzled.
Officer 2: Thank you ma’am, one of my officers told me you didn’t have a license, that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner.
Older Woman: Bet the liar told you I was speeding, too!!!!
Don’t Mess With Old Ladies!!!
Bat! Yuck!
Thursday morning when I let Lucy out just before daylight, she kept barking and barking! I went out to see what was going on, didn’t see anything, but did hear a rustling sound.
We have a half wine barrel sitting next to shed, just off our patio with a half wall leaning over it against the top of the shed. Lucy would bark and growl, then run around onto the grass and bark and growl again. I could not see anything.
Well yesterday evening after dinner, Lucy did it again! Rudy went out and at first he saw nothing. Finally he found a bat, it was clinging to the inside of the partial wall between it and the wine barrel.

They are so ugly!!!

This is the largest bat we’ve seen out here.
Life!
Life can be a little overwhelming at times, but still goes on!
Ever feel like life is just passing you by and leaving you behind? That’s the way I feel these days.
I always have all of these things I want to get done, but there is never enough time or energy to do them. What happened to my life, I used to do so much!
Weather here in the Northwest has been ever changing, hot to cool and back to hot next week. We got a little rain yesterday, hadn’t had rain in awhile here.
My garden is doing ok. Lots of bell peppers, I’ve made stuffed bell peppers twice now. tomatoes are doing ok, the first of the crop had some problems, but looks like they are doing fine now. Cucumbers and squash have slowed down a bit, guess because of the cooler weather. That’s all I grow these days, I don’t have my huge garden any more.
I really need to be planning my Christmas cards, still not done that yet this summer and it was on my summer to do list! Waste of time to make lists anyway, never get them done!
It’s been quite awhile since I did any of my crafting, it used to consume my life!
“Life Goes On . . . One Day at a Time!” That’s the motto I live by these last few years.
Baking!
Even though it was hot yesterday, I did some baking for the family.
Jakob had asked me to bake him a pumpkin pie, when he was still on vacation in Iowa, so I baked him a pumpkin pie yesterday. I also made Oatmeal/Choc Chip cookies for everyone too! Hope they all enjoyed them!
Rudy came home sick from work and slept most of the evening, so I guess he didn’t eat any cookies.
I’ve decided no BAKING today in this hot weather!
It’s too hot!
I’m tired of this heat now! Sure! I grew up in Northern California and was hot there too, but I don’t like the heat! Supposed to be 106 today, was 103 yesterday. Is there no relief in sight, I ask?
Ok, I’m whining, but what else can you do when it’s so hot! I hope where ever you are, it’s not as hot as here!
